STEPHAN AGUSTUS TARR
STEPHEN A. TARR, retired farmer, Paw Paw, Ill., was born in New Hampshire, May 30, 1834, and came to Henry County, Ill., in 1853, locating at Kewanee, where he remained until 1854, when he returned to New Hamp-shire and brought his parents to Illinois, settling at Kewanee, where he engaged in painting. In 1860 Mr. Tarr came to Paw Paw, where he engaged in painting for many years, but is now living retired. September 1, 1860, he married Jane E., daughter of Israel F. and Persis (Boardman) Hallock, and to them eight children have been born, five of whom survive, viz.” Franklin, Rubert and Ruben (twins), Mary and Thomas. On September 2, 1862, Mr. Tarr enlisted in Company K, Seventy-fifth Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was seriously wounded in the engagement at Perryville and discharged Dec. 6, 1862 on account of physical disability. He is a member of the G. A. R. at Paw Paw, and of the I. O. O. F. In politics he is a Republican, and has served one term as Township Collector. He is a member of the Baptist church.
